The 2023 Salesforce Education Summit held April 10-12, 2023 in Dallas, Texas was a welcome return to in-person conferences for the Higher Education community. We were pleased to be a sponsor of the event, including co-presenting with Dr. Pamela Luckett, the Chief Digital Officer of Dallas College. Attended by more than 1,500 customers, Salesforce representatives, and select education partners (including SIG), the conference officially launched Education Cloud, the latest evolution of purpose-built functionality for colleges and universities.
Salesforce had previously released Education Cloud in March, but the conference represented the official marketing launch. For the current release, Salesforce is focusing on Recruiting & Admissions (R&A). The next release later this summer will continue to add features for R&A and will begin to add additional functionality for Student Success. There was a lot of excitement from schools attending the event. In typical Salesforce fashion, the keynote presentations featured a drumline, dancers, and a gospel choir. Because the release of Education Cloud was unexpected, many schools will be waiting until budgets for the next fiscal year open up before they can consider purchasing.
One of the biggest takeaways from the event was that every school has a different set of circumstances. For some schools, moving to Education Cloud immediately makes a lot of sense. However, for others, there may be no immediate need.
