Ellucian is retiring the following products by June 2024

SIG offers expert Ellucian consulting services for Higher Ed institutions.

Like any software company, Ellucian periodically retires a product offering or service due to changes in their underlying technology stack or if another product/ service offering is taking its place. This article summarizes four products/ service offerings that will be retired by Ellucian on June 30, 2024. 

End of Life (EOL) Products  

Ellucian announced the following products that they will be sunsetting/ transitioning to an ‘end of life’ status on June 30, 2024:  

  • Ellucian Mobile (mobile application offering) 
  • Ellucian Portal (portal used by Colleague ERP clients) 
  • Luminis (portal used by Banner ERP clients) 
  • Banner Integration for eLearning (data integration components used by Banner ERP clients)

It is important to note that depending on your specific needs, other third-party products may be able to replace your Ellucian Mobile, Ellucian Portal/Luminis or Banner Integration for eLearning deployments.

Migration Planning

Whether you decide to go with an Ellucian product or with another third-party solution, make sure your project scope addresses key migration factors to ensure a smooth transition for both the institution and your end users. Keep in mind the following criteria:

  • Content migration
  • User accounts migration
  • Impacted Ellucian applications
  • Impacted third-party applications
  • Impacted customizations
  • Technical integration requirements
  • IT infrastructure impact (on-premise, cloud, third-party)
  • End user communications and migration support needs
